Published in 1888, we couldn’t find an inscription, but we had to include this book because of the interesting checkout dates and related rules. This book was in circulation with the Bradford Library & Literary Society for what appears to be over 40 years and was only checked out 6 times!

I tend to be a little jaundiced when it comes to author inscriptions that are heavy with aphorism. Personally I think Sarah gave this book away because she didn’t want to “Celebrate Life Everyday!” (Or at least she didn’t like being told to do so.) Could be she wanted to celebrate it a couple of times a week and perhaps twice on Sunday with her husband….Maybe everyday was a bit too much.

We found not an inscription but a truly wonderful, creative message, via post-it note, within the pages of this funny Klosterman pop-culture book. And Ryan, if you’re reading this….What kind of cookies did you make?

The Really Useful Student Cookbook by Silvana Franco
Ah yes, school days and the myriad ways in which to prepare ramen noodles on a budget! Sadly, those kind of recipes were not to be found inside the pages of this cookbook. Published in the UK, this book has recipes for bubble and squeak, toad in the hole and other British culinary main stays.
I know a couple of students – my niece Maddie, my nephew Jesse and David’s daughter Rien – who might enjoy this book.
