Open Secrets by Alice Munro
Open Secrets by Alice Munro

One of our new favorites. We found a love note turned bookmark within the pages of Ms. Munro’s wonderful short story collection, and there’s no secret about the feelings of this note’s drafter. We’re hoping the recipient has lots of these romantic missives and doesn’t mind misplacing this one!Continue Reading

The Daily Show: Reminds Me of My Mom…but then, what doesn’t?

The Daily ShowWatching Jon Stewart’s sign off from The Daily Show, I’m wondering how I’m going to cope without the funny, incisive, sometimes slightly self-righteous pieces of outrage and analysis he directs at the pompous media and at our nation’s bought and sold democracy. Continue Reading

Feeling Wobbly (or Bobbling About?)

June 5, 2015 By Donna Quixote Leave a Comment

Feeling Wobbly (or Bobbling About?)This musing actually is dated, but remains apt….Between recently learning of Mario Cuomo’s death, again seeing Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and having the usual new year aspirations, I guess I need get moving on that whole “living a life of meaning” thing. Who knows, maybe it’s not too late to attain bobble-head status!

How sad.” And then it made us wonder how many other inscribed books are just sitting around waiting to be read and pondered? Well, we started searching for them in earnest a little while ago, scouring used bookshops, antique/thrift stores and the like. We’re amazed at how many we’ve found so far!
